In a relationship, it is normal for a man to be head of the household. In an abusive relationship, it is most common for the man to abuse the woman physically, mentally, verbally, and emotionally. But what if the roles were switched? What if the woman was abusive in the relationship?
A few months ago I was watching the Tyra Show and she was talking about men in abusive relationships. Surprisingly, the women were abusing their boyfriends in many ways. This is rare but true on the woman's part. Wouldn't you assume that it would be easier for a man to leave an abusive relationship? Well it is not as easy for a man as you think. Men are raised having to depend on a woman to take care of him. So in order to avoid having to do those "motherly" duties for himself, the man sticks it out.
The reasons the women had for abusing their significant other was either they grew up with a tough mentality having to fight for themselves so as a result they take it out on their men as well, they do it out of fear of the man leaving them because they didn't have that male figure around growing up, or the male figure in their lives growing up was abusive to them. This has taught me that even though we rarely hear about men being abused, that does not mean that it doesn't happen. We cannot underestimate the power of a woman. Women can do anything a man can do, and I feel that the consequences should be the same.
